Selecting a Topic for Gseo

Use a topic name that is as focused as possible so that it fully reveals itself in the topically relevant entity list. Many terms can mean multiple things which will give you unrelated results. For example, you want to create a site about your favorite car – the Jaguar. So you type Jaguar into Gseo and get it started.

When we look at the results, we can see items that have nothing to do with the car – cat, leopard, panther, etc.
This shows that we have used a topic that could be confusing to even Google. We need to narrow it further so that there is no confusion about what we are discussing.

So we try another topic that we think is better and get:

As you can see, we added the word car behind jaguar and can also see that the topically relevant entities in the list are now just about the car brand Jaguar.

Remember that Google is very much all about websites showing expertise in the main topic of a website. So carefully consider if your site is truly all about everything there is to know about the brand Jaguar or perhaps just a small part of that massive topic.

You need to narrow your focus to exactly the topic of your site. This will take a little time to learn to do for some but without a true definition of the topic of your website, then it will be nearly impossible to keep the content topically relevant and the expertise level of your site will diminish. It may require you to re-word it from your initial topic. For example, How to Garden could be reduced to just gardening. Or How to Grow Roses could be changed to Grow Roses. The words “How” and “to” have no specific meaning to the topic and will alter the results.

To caution again, be aware of the words you are using as you may think it means what you want but to Google it’s different. For example, our topic of Grow Roses is quite different from Rose Gardening.

It is also very useful to look through the 3 files starting with the word Total in the main project folder for your topic. Look through them all and see if there are things that you wouldn’t consider to be part of your topic. Could it be that you just haven’t selected the best topic to use?

When considering topics for local marketing, you do not want to include geographical information in the topic. The true topic has no geographical bearing. When Google sees someone looking for a niche in a city, it tells them to produce a list of those people in that niche. It does not produce a page on the topic of that niche. And think about the topic of a local niche that you will want to write articles for. You may be writing for a plumber but the topic related to him is plumbing. This will have Gseo generate much more useful information about your niche/product/service.
